What is digital technology?  Can it help your business? 


There are a number of ways that technology can make a business more efficient, of which many entrepreneurs are not aware.  We will provide a general overview of what digital technology is and how it can assist businesses to simplify or streamline operations.  Plus, you will learn about how connecting with UNBC and CNC can make digital technology even more accessible for your business. 

We have examples of:

  • What information can be obtained in order to make more informed decisions
  • Which generic software can be customized to suit specific needs
  • What local, customized training can ease transitions
  • Who to contact for specific digital tech challenges
  • How research often leads to industrial innovation

Innovation Central Society – How tech tools can help your business! (15 minutes)
A general overview of what digital technology is and how it can be 
easily used.


Matt Hutcheon is the Executive Director of Innovation Center Society. Matt works with many innovators and tech entrepreneurs to help get their ideas in motion. He is also responsible for the HubSpace, powered by Innovation Central, which is a co-working and event space designed to foster connections and collaboration between people and help them advance their business ideas.

 


UNBC - Continuing your education with tech specifics! (10 minutes)
What quick and easy course offerings are available to enable business tech updates?



Nicole Neufeld is the Assistant Manager for UNBC Continuing Studies Online. Nicole's role with UNBC focuses on identifying new opportunities for online course development, creating partnerships with industry to support online learning tools, and to identify new trends in the industry.





CNC – What we can do! (10 minutes) 
How can "Wolfram" and artificial intelligence help you access answers to your business challenges? 



Oro Barton leads research teams at the College of New Caledonia. He has a long history teaching technology and is currently working on machine intelligent business projects that enhance business processes by using computer algorithms developed with students. 




Bill Norman is a business student and student researcher at the College of New Caledonia. His research focuses on implementing computer algorithms to create business solutions for real world problems. He is working on research projects for Cabin Forestry, Family Dental Care, and Northwest Escapes.




Business – A prime example of tech use! (10 minutes)
Research can be applied to the private sector - for the ultimate benefit.


Vicki Smith is a Biologist with Environmental Dynamics Inc. (EDI). Vicki has eight years of experience in wildlife and fisheries biology. Vicki’s expertise as a biologist is very well rounded, including participation in research, field-based inventory, data analysis, and technical report writing. 





CNC and UNBC - Connect with the experts! (10 minutes)
What does connecting with a local campus mean and how can it benefit business?


Mark Barnes is the Assistant Director of Research at the University of Northern BC. Under his portfolio falls the Partnerships & Innovation Division of the Office of Research where his team works to increase the awareness of the mutual needs of industry and the university, and encourages and supports industrial partnerships.
