Strong relationships between our post-secondary institutions and business will continue to foster a sustainable and robust economy as our alumni make significant advancement in many sectors. UNBC host President Daniel Weeks will speak, and Greg D'Avignon, the President and CEO of the Business Council of BC will provide the keynote address. Included will be a panel of UNBC and CNC alumni that demonstrate how graduates are leading development of Northern BC.

Daniel Weeks is the President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Northern British Columbia. Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Weeks is a cognitive psychologist and an internationally-recognized expert on human motor control. He also has a research program focused on skill acquisition in persons with Down Syndrome. He has pioneered new brain imaging techniques to determine the impact of cerebral specialization and information processing on health and behaviour, among other projects. He previously served as a Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University, where he also operated the PsychoMotor Behaviour Laboratory.
Since 2010, Greg D'Avignon has been President and CEO of the Business Council of British Columbia, a 260-member driven policy and advocacy organization comprised of the province's leading businesses and institutions in every sector of the provincial economy. Combined, BCBC members are employers of one in four British Columbians.
In his 25 year career, Mr. D'Avignon has served in senior private sector, government and not for profit leadership positions, most recently as the President of Canada's National Brewers. He previously served the Prime Minister of Canada, and the federal Ministers of National Defence and Justice.
In 2013 in recognition of his work in business and the community at large, Greg received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal.
