Social media is here to stay! From teens to seniors and everyone in between, your customers are spending more time than ever online - make sure you're reaching them! This session will focus on the KING of social media: Facebook. The site can provide incredibly detailed information about your fans, and the ability to target your message to the EXACT demographic you're trying to reach. Social media is turning traditional marketing on its head; stay on top of it (AND ahead of your competitors)




Camille MacDonald 

Camille MacDonald is a familiar face to many in Prince George. With a background as a news reporter and anchor, she revently launched Pop Media, her own digital marketing business. While running CKPG's social media pages, she realized the immense opportunity this digital age is presenting to businesses. She taps into that hands-on experience - as well as her studies at SFU and BCIT - to help clients stand out in the busy online world. She believes social media is the best, most cost effective way to build loyalty with existing customers and attract new ones.

Not only will you gain a sense of of which marketing approaches are most cost-effective, you will learn how to make them fit into the reality of your business. It IS possible to leverage a small budget in a BIG way! Propel your business forward by using the best tools for your target audience, budget, and goals.


Charles Scott

Charles began his economic development career in 1990. Between 2001 and 2012, he worked directly with entrepreneurs to strategically position their firms, handle rapid growth and enter new markets. For five of those years he helped firms develop in export markets, participating on trade missions to the USA, China, Russia, Chile, Peru and the Philippines. He was a commercial lender for 8 years, at GE Capital and Community Futures. He rejoined the Community Futures network in October 2016 to help firms to identify, enter and develop new markets outside of British Columbia through the Export Navigator pilot program.

A faculty member at UNBC's School of Business, he specializes in international business, marketing, entrepreneurship and ethics. Charles holds a Masters degree in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelors degree in Economics from UBC. With Charles outstanding background he is able to provide our workshop with a large amount of knowledge and awareness in the marketing world. 


 

Planning your Marketing

Planning a marketing strategy - and effectively executing it - is essential to businesses of all sizes, in many sectors. But the process can be very time consuming! Making marketing easier and more effective can save you both time and money. In the final hour of our marketing workshop, you will be reminded of some of the most important skills in marketing. There can be many factors to be aware of: advertising in an already established marketplace, being aware of your marketing environment, and finding new consumers while having wider exposure. Learn how to prioritize and plan for these and more.

Sandy Whitwham brings unique array of skills and experience to our workshop. President of The Edge Communications, Sandy is a big picture thinker with a proven track record delivering and overseeing portfolios within business, promotions, marketing and public relations; and managing sales and marketing teams. Before starting The Edge in 2013, Sandy worked within the media in various positions over a 31-year period.
